An army of believers equipped with practical tools for ministry to Hethne – this is what has materialized last 9 and 16 September 2023, respectively, in Las Pinas City and Davao City, Philippines, in the Hethne seminar entitled “Know Your Neighbour: Understanding Hinduism”. Dr AK Nair shed light on the need to reach students, Hindu perception of Christianity, understanding of Indian culture, Hindu view of sin and salvation, barriers of communication, and acquiring understanding to initiate dialogue with Hindu friends. Attended by 110 local pastors, leaders, missionaries, and Christian Indian medical students, these seminars were in partnership with Serving In Mission (SIM), Philippine Missions Association (PMA), SEND International, OM Philippines, and the Christ Fellowship Church (CFC) in Davao City where AK Nair was invited to preach in their two Sunday worship services.
AK Nair has been invited to join the "Lausanne Catalyst for Hinduism" team, which he regarded favourably. Being part of the Lausanne Movement now is a great honour and privilege to reach the 1.2 billion Hethne people across the world.
AK Nair also received an invitation to speak at one of the Global Mobilisation Network 2023 (GMN) gatherings in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 16-20 October. He spoke on “Diaspora Realities in Mobilization.” Now, the mission is on our doorstep. GMN is an affiliated network of the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission (WEA MC). He had attended previous GMN Consultations in Dubai and Brazil, where he met individuals directly involved in various mobilizations.
The Global Hethne Consultation 2024 registration is slowly coming in. We just crossed the 30 marks from 11 countries. The hotel is booked for 200 people, so we aim for 100 registrants before Christmas break. Finding scholarships for all participants who cannot meet the total registration costs is quite a serious task. We would like to see half of the participants from the Global South (emerging world) represented in our Consultation. The 15 Days of Prayer for the Hindu World is set on 5 – 19 November 2023. This annual Hindu prayer focuses on calling individuals and churches worldwide to take 15 days to learn about Hethne and pray for the 1.2 billion Hethne. The 15-day prayer commences on the 5th and ends on 19th November, in time of the Diwali season. Diwali or Deepavali symbolises the "spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Light, in Hinduism, is "knowledge and consciousness". Many Hindus pray 'Tamaso ma jyothir gamaya.' ('Lead me from darkness to light'). Jesus promised us, believers, 'I am the light of the world".
